Bellmare reach 70 points as Zeigen shock Grampus

The 33rd round of the MEIJI YASUDA J2 League took place this weekend, with nine out of 11 matches taking place as scheduled.

Leaders Shonan Bellmare managed a narrow 1-0 win over Kamatamare Sanuki, successfully defending Andre Bahia's goal to go undefeated in their ninth straight match and climb to 70 points.

After Yusuke Goto put Oita Trinita up in the 17th minute at the Oita Bank Dome, V-Varen Nagasaki fought to a 2-1 victory through Juanma’s brace, rising to provisional second place.

Matsumoto Yamaga made quick work of Thespa Kusatsu Gunma with a 3-0 home win, ending the day in provisional fourth place with their fourth straight win.

Meanwhile, fifth placed Yokohama FC settled for a 1-1 draw with Tokyo Verdy in seventh.

In Sunday’s lone action, Zweigen Kanazawa made it two for two against Nagoya Grampus this season, with Kiwara Miyazaki scoring from the spot and Masahiro Kaneko and Koichi Sato scoring from open play.

Yosuke Akiyama netted the 1-1 equalizer for Grampus, who ended the weekend in sixth place.

Due to the weekend’s typhoon, Roasso Kumamoto’s home game against Avispa Fukuoka was rescheduled for Monday, September 18.

A replacement date for Ehime FC’s tie against Kyoto Sanga, which was also postponed, will be announced in the near future.
