The 2026/27 MEIJI YASUDA J2 LEAGUE season kicked off on Saturday, with eight Matchweek 1 fixtures taking place.

Hokkaido Consadole Sapporo got off to a winning start at home, beating Tokushima Vortis 2-0 thanks to goals from Vini Peixoto and Haruto Shirai. Fujieda MYFC also secured a 2-0 victory, with Shota Suzuki and Wigi Kanemoto finding the net against Vegalta Sendai.

Making their J2 debut, Vanraure Hachinohe celebrated their first-ever victory in the division with a 2-0 win over Kataller Toyama, as Yuta Sato scored both goals. RB Omiya Ardija, meanwhile, held on to the lead given to them by Ota Yamamoto's fifth-minute goal to defeat Albirex Niigata 1-0.

Shonan Bellmare earned a 1-0 away victory over Oita Trinita, with Hiroto Yamada's 43rd-minute goal proving to be the winner. Yokohama FC also won 1-0 away from home, as substitute Adailton struck the decisive goal in the 76th minute against Tegevajaro Miyazaki.

Jubilo Iwata took the lead inside the opening minute through Ryunosuke Ota, but Blaublitz Akita equalised in the 61st minute as the match ended 1-1. Sagan Tosu enjoyed a 2-0 home victory over Ventforet Kofu, with new signings Toshiki Takahashi and Yudai Tanaka both finding the net.
