Six Matchweek 2 fixtures in the MEIJI YASUDA J3 LEAGUE were played on 15 August.
Gifu produced a dominant display at home to Kochi. Hayato Kanda opened the scoring in the fourth minute with his second goal in as many matches before an own goal doubled the lead in the 23rd minute. Shohei Ogushi added a third in the 35th minute to give Gifu a three-goal advantage at half-time. Kanda struck again in the 49th minute before Ryoma Kita scored in the 68th minute and Jordan Tell added two more in the 72nd and 76th minutes to complete a resounding 7-0 victory and make it two wins from two to start the season.
Sagamihara cruised to a 4-1 away victory over Gunma, with Kai Sasaki scoring a brace. Yamaguchi held on to the lead given to them by Hikaru Naruoka's 20th-minute goal to secure a 1-0 victory over Ryukyu.
Kanazawa found themselves two goals down at home to Fukushima at half-time, but Haruka Suzuki pulled one back in the 49th minute before Tomoya Osawa equalised in the 62nd minute. Suzuki struck again in the 76th minute to put Kanazawa ahead. Fukushima levelled in the 88th minute, but Keita Shirawachi scored a dramatic winner in the 90+4th minute to seal a thrilling 4-3 victory.
Kitakyushu and Sanuki played out a goalless draw, while Kumamoto and Tochigi SC also finished 0-0.
