Ventforet Kofu have announced that forward Kazushi Mitsuhira has suffered an injury.
Mitsuhira has been diagnosed with a left medial meniscus injury and underwent surgery on 13 August. He is expected to be sidelined for approximately six months.
Following the announcement, Mitsuhira commented:
"Hi everyone. After getting through just over a month of hard training leading up to the start of the league season, I realised I still have more work to do, so I've decided to go away and train for a while. The standard of refereeing in the J.League has improved in recent years, and the game is demanding greater intensity. I want to build a stronger body that can stand up to that kind of football and come back ready to play again. You might be missing Sanpei for a while, but whenever things get tough, just think of my afro. Good things happen when you smile. And please keep getting behind all the players who are giving everything they have for Ventforet Kofu."
