Ten matches were played on the 22nd in Matchweek 3 of the MEIJI YASUDA J2 LEAGUE, with Omiya moving clear at the top after making it three wins from three.

Omiya travelled to Sapporo and took the lead through Carlinhos Junior in the ninth minute before Yuta Toyokawa doubled their advantage in the 31st minute. Carlinhos Junior struck again four minutes after the restart, with Toya Izumi adding a fourth in the 78th minute. Sapporo pulled one back late on, but Omiya ran out comfortable 4-1 winners to maintain their perfect start and move top of the table.

Shonan travelled to Miyazaki and created chances but were unable to find a breakthrough as the match ended goalless. They remain unbeaten and move up to second. Toyama cruised to a 4-0 win over Imabari, with Manato Furukawa among the scorers. Their second straight victory lifts them to third, while Imabari have now lost all three of their opening matches.

Tochigi City came from behind to claim a 3-1 away win over Tosu, with Tokmac Nguen scoring twice. Niigata edged Fujieda 1-0 at home thanks to Kazuyoshi Shimabuku's 82nd-minute winner.

Sendai claimed their first win of the season with a 2-0 victory away to Hachinohe thanks to goals from Tsubasa Umeki and Hidetoshi Takeda. Iwata also recorded their first win as Ryunosuke Ota struck a dramatic winner in the 90+2nd minute to seal a 2-1 victory.

Akita cruised to a 3-0 win over Kofu, with Hiroto Morooka among the scorers. Yamagata defeated Yokohama FC 2-0 thanks to goals from Keigo Enomoto and Junya Takahashi, while Oita recorded their first win of the season with a 4-1 victory over Iwaki, with Yasufumi Nishimura scoring twice.
