FC Osaka have announced that the planned signing of defender Shuto Asano has been cancelled at the player's request. The club also confirmed that Asano will join Malaysian Super League side Melaka FC.
Asano played for Myanmar side Yangon United FC last season, and his move to FC Osaka was announced on 19 July.
Asano commented through the club:
"To everyone connected with FC Osaka, although I had been working towards signing a contract with the club, I have ultimately decided to play in Malaysia. First of all, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to FC Osaka for giving me the chance to become a J.League player. I am also sorry that, despite everything the club did to welcome me as a member of the team, things have ended this way, and I will not be joining the club. Although it was only for a short time, thank you very much for everything. I sincerely hope FC Osaka win promotion to J2."
