New Hero Award to Recognise Outstanding Young Player in 2026/27 J.League Yamazaki Biscuits Levain Cup

The J.League will once again present the New Hero Award to one young player who produces the most outstanding performances throughout the 2026/27 J.League Yamazaki Biscuits Levain Cup, which kicks off on Wednesday 2 September.
 
The New Hero Award is designed to add another dimension to the competition, which is played in a different format from the league. The winner will be selected by the J.League based on votes from media representatives. Since the award was established in 1996, many recipients have gone on to become leading players in the J.League and for Japan.

■ Overview
 
● Eligible Players
・Players aged 21 or under as of 31 December of the relevant season
・Type 2 registered players and JFA/J.League Special Designated Players are also eligible
*Players who have previously won the award are not eligible.
 
● Selection Process
The J.League will select this season’s New Hero Award winner based on votes from media representatives at each match venue from the First Round through the Semifinals.
 
● Award Details
・The winner is scheduled to be announced, with the award to be presented before the final.
・The winner will receive ¥500,000 in prize money, a commemorative award and one year’s supply of Yamazaki Biscuits products.

*Ages are as of the date of the first match in the award year. Clubs in parentheses indicate the player’s club at the time.
*The age limit for eligible players was changed to 21 or under in 2018.
