Tottori Stun J2 Leaders Omiya! Iwata Cruise Past Sagamihara 3-0 [Summary: Levain Cup First Round]

Fifteen First Round matches in the 2026/27 J.League Yamazaki Biscuits Levain Cup were played on 2 September.
 
There were two all-J2 ties. Tochigi City beat Hachinohe 2-0 thanks to goals from Byron Vasquez and Tokmac Nguen. In the other, Toyama came from behind to beat Miyazaki 2-1, with Yuki Nakashima and Tsubasa Yoshihira on target.
 
Of the 13 ties between J2 and J3 sides, J3 teams came out on top in seven.
 
Patric struck the winner in the 89th minute with the scores level at 1-1 as Kanazawa beat Imabari 2-1. FC Osaka cruised to a 3-0 victory over Kofu, with Shoki Nagano among the scorers. Sota Yamamoto scored twice as Tottori stunned J2 leaders Omiya 3-1.
 
Ehime held on to the lead given to them by Masamichi Hayashi's 10th-minute goal to secure a 1-0 victory over Akita. Mahiro Yoshinaga struck the winner in the 83rd minute as Kitakyushu edged Iwaki 1-0. Kumamoto cruised to a 2-0 home victory over Oita thanks to goals from Yuto Katori and Sota Nagai. Gifu defeated Tokushima in a penalty shoot-out after the match ended goalless.
 
In the other matches, the J2 sides came out on top. Iwata cruised to a 3-0 victory over Sagamihara, with Ryo Watanabe among the scorers. Niigata edged Gunma 2-1 thanks to goals from Ryosuke Maeda and Keisuke Kasai. Tosu fell behind against Nara but equalised through Park Homin in the 30th minute before Kanta Jojo struck the winner in the 72nd minute to complete a 2-1 comeback victory.
 
Hayato Manabe scored twice as Fujieda cruised to a 2-0 victory over Yamaguchi. Tatsuya Hasegawa struck the winner in the 89th minute as Sapporo edged Kagoshima 1-0. Yokohama FC edged Ryukyu 3-2 in a five-goal thriller, with Makito Ito scoring the winner in the 85th minute after the match had been level at 2-2.
