Iwaki FC have announced that they accepted the resignation of manager Yuzo Tamura and mutually agreed to terminate his contract with effect from 7 September.
Tamura had been in charge since 2023 and recorded one win and four defeats in the MEIJI YASUDA J2 LEAGUE this season through Matchweek 5.
Tamura commented through the club:
“Thank you for everything. I’m truly grateful. Please continue to support the club.”
Iwaki also announced the appointment of Kazuaki Tasaka as their new manager.
Tasaka had served as Iwaki's Sports Division Director since the start of 2026.
Upon his appointment, Tasaka commented:
“I have been appointed manager of Iwaki FC's first team. My name is Kazuaki Tasaka. I feel a great sense of responsibility and determination in taking charge of the team at this point in the season. Having worked alongside the players and staff within the club, I understand both the situation the team is in and what the players are capable of. I believe what we need now is to get back to our roots. I want the whole team to rediscover the spirit behind the ‘Soul-stirring Football’ that Iwaki FC have always valued — running, fighting and taking the game to our opponents until the very end.
“Run to win. Fight for every ball and every moment. Fight for your teammates. And never give up until the very end, whatever the situation. I believe it is the accumulation of those individual efforts that makes Iwaki FC strong. I want us to raise our standards in training every day, create competition among the players and move forward together as one team. I want to build a group in which not only the 11 players on the pitch, but everyone in the team fights with a sense of responsibility.
“Of course, the road ahead will not be easy. But it is precisely because of the situation we are in that the players, staff and everyone connected with the club need to come together and keep moving forward.
