Niigata Go Top with Back-to-Back Wins! Late Izumi Equaliser Rescues Point for Omiya [Summary: MEIJI YASUDA J2 Matchweek 7]

Eight Matchweek 7 fixtures in the MEIJI YASUDA J2 LEAGUE were played on 19 September.
 
Niigata took the lead at home to Iwata through Matheus Moraes in the 30th minute before Iury Castilho doubled their advantage on the hour. Iwata pulled one back in the 88th minute, but Niigata held on for a 2-1 victory to make it two wins in a row and move top on 15 points.
 
Omiya, who began the matchweek top of the table, fell behind away to Fujieda just before half-time. Toya Izumi rescued a point, however, with a dramatic equaliser in the fifth minute of stoppage time. The 1-1 draw kept Omiya unbeaten this season but saw them drop to fourth.
 
Toyama cruised to a 2-0 away victory over Yamagata thanks to goals from Taewon Kim and Mahiro Yunomae, moving provisionally into second. Yokohama FC also claimed all three points, with Adailton striking in the first minute of stoppage time to seal a 2-1 victory over Imabari.
 
Sapporo rescued a 1-1 draw with Oita as Ryota Aoki equalised in the fifth minute of stoppage time, while Taiyo Nishino struck in the 48th minute to earn Shonan a 1-1 draw with Akita.
 
Thonny Anderson's 74th-minute goal proved to be the winner as Tokushima edged Kofu 1-0. Iwaki, meanwhile, beat Tosu 3-1, with Yuriya Takahashi among the scorers.
