Four Matchweek 3 fixtures in the East-West League Round of the U-21 J.League were played on 20 September.

In the East League Round, U-21 Tokyo Verdy came from behind to beat U-21 Shimizu S-Pulse 4-2. Issei Kumatoriya cancelled out Shimizu's sixth-minute opener in the 12th minute before Gouki Yamada put Verdy ahead six minutes later. Shimizu equalised in the 52nd minute, but Yamada restored Verdy's lead in the 60th before Sota Ofuji added a fourth seven minutes later.

U-21 Jubilo Iwata cruised to a 4-0 home victory over U-21 Urawa Reds, with Jinnosuke Fujimoto among the scorers. U-21 FC Tokyo and U-21 Kawasaki Frontale, meanwhile, played out a goalless draw.

In the West League Round, U-21 Vissel Kobe edged U-21 Fagiano Okayama 4-2. Sota Ito opened the scoring in the 15th minute before Okayama equalised three minutes later. Justin Homma restored Kobe's lead shortly after half-time, but Okayama levelled again in the 52nd minute. Kengo Kikuchi put Kobe back in front in the 81st before Ito struck his second two minutes later to seal the victory.
