Tournament outline decided for J.LEAGUE ASIA CHALLENGE 2018 INDONESIA

The J.League can confirm the details of the 2018 J. LEAGUE Asia Challenge in Indonesia, which will take place in Jakarta on Saturday, January 27.

<About the Committee to Commemorate the 60th Anniversary of Japan – Indonesia Diplomatic Relations>

The committee was formed in order to plan and hold various commemorative events over the course of 2018 to celebrate the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Japan and Indonesia. It is comprised of Japanese businesses and governmental organizations as well as the local Japanese embassy.

■Tournament Format
The match shall take place over 90 minutes with two 45-minute halves. In the event of a draw after regulation time, the winner shall be decided through penalty kicks using the ABBA format.

■Squad Regulations
Teams may register up to 18 players
(One team may register up to five foreign players. However, only three foreign players plus a player from an AFC member country may be on the pitch at the same time)

■Substitutions
Each team may make a maximum of seven substitutions during the match.

The 2017 Indonesia Liga 1 champions were founded in 2010, changing to their current name in 2016 under new ownership. They won the league in their first year under Scottish manager Simon McMenemy. Their squad includes players such as 21-year-old Muhammad Hargianto, who is expected to lead Indonesia’s national team in the future.

The logo was designed by an Indonesian high school student. The ‘6’ represents the Indonesian national flag, while the ‘0’ represents Japan’s national flag, and visual elements representing both countries (Japanese cherry blossom petals and the Indonesian ‘Wayang’ shadow puppet) are also included.
