Kyoto Sanga F.C. have announced that forward Rafael Elias will serve as captain for the 2026/27 season. The club have also named defender Shinnosuke Fukuda and midfielders Shimpei Fukuoka and Taiki Hirato as vice-captains.
Following the announcement, Elias commented:
"Today is a day I will remember for the rest of my life. Being named captain of Kyoto Sanga F.C. carries a responsibility far greater than simply wearing the captain's armband. It is an honour to represent this great club, my teammates, our wonderful supporters, the city of Kyoto and everyone who supports us every day. I would like to thank the football department, the coaching staff, the club staff and my teammates for entrusting me with this responsibility. I promise to give my very best every day, both on and off the pitch, to honour this shirt and fight for each and every one of our supporters. With God's guidance, let's make this a wonderful and unforgettable season together."
