J.League Sets New League Match Attendance Record of 63,960, Surpassing 1993 Inaugural Match

The 2026/27 MEIJI YASUDA J1 LEAGUE Matchweek 1 fixture between Yokohama F. Marinos and Kashima Antlers, held at MUFG Stadium on Friday 7 August, drew a crowd of 63,960, setting a new all-time attendance record for a J.League match.

The attendance surpassed the 59,626 recorded for the J.League's inaugural match between Verdy Kawasaki and Yokohama Marinos on 15 May 1993. It also broke the previous league match attendance record of 63,854, set when Yokohama F. Marinos faced FC Tokyo on 7 December 2019.

The 2026/27 MEIJI YASUDA J.League season kicked off today with Yokohama F. Marinos vs. Kashima Antlers and Gamba Osaka vs. Urawa Reds. Matchweek 1 will continue across J1, J2 and J3 on Saturday 8 August and Sunday 9 August.
