The MEIJI YASUDA J2 LEAGUE continues with 10 Matchweek 2 fixtures on 15 and 16 August.
Fujieda and Iwaki meet with both sides looking to make it two wins from two. Fujieda opened their campaign with an impressive victory over Sendai, winners of the 100 YEAR VISION LEAGUE. Can Wigi Kanemoto, who scored his first professional goal on his debut, deliver again this week? Iwaki beat Imabari 2-1, with Naoki Kumata scoring a brace. He will once again be a key figure.
Shonan and Yamagata also meet with perfect starts on the line. Shonan edged Oita 1-0, with Hiroto Yamada scoring the decisive goal. He will once again be expected to lead the attack. Yamagata beat Tochigi C 2-0. Can Akira Silvano Disaro', who opened the scoring, help fire his side to a second straight win?
Yokohama FC face Iwata at MUFG National Stadium. Yokohama FC opened their campaign with a 1-0 victory over Miyazaki. Can Adailton, who came off the bench to score the winner, deliver against his former club? Iwata drew 1-1 with Akita. Having taken the lead but failed to see out the win, managing the game from a winning position will be key.
Niigata welcome Sapporo after beginning their campaign with defeat to Omiya. Having conceded early and struggled to regain control, they will be looking for a much stronger start this time. Sapporo, meanwhile, made an impressive start with a comfortable victory over Tokushima. New signing Vini Peixoto made an immediate impact with a goal and an assist and will again be one to watch.
Akita host Toyama after drawing 1-1 with Iwata in their opener. Their powerful counter-attacks produced the equaliser and could again prove key. Toyama were beaten 2-0 by Hachinohe, conceding shortly after the start of both halves. They will need to be sharper at the beginning of each half this time.
Tochigi C and Hachinohe meet in a battle between two promoted sides. Tochigi C lost 2-0 to Yamagata in their opener but continued to play aggressively despite being reduced to 10 men early on. They will look to maintain that approach as they seek their first J2 victory. Hachinohe, meanwhile, enjoyed a comfortable 2-0 win over Toyama. Yuta Sato scored both goals and will be looking to deliver again this week.
Sendai host Oita after suffering a 2-0 defeat to Fujieda in the opening matchweek. Despite having more possession, they struggled to make it count and will be looking to bounce back. Oita were beaten 1-0 by Shonan. Can Hiroshi Kiyotake, back from injury, provide the spark they need?
Kofu welcome Miyazaki after a 2-0 defeat to Tosu last time out. Despite registering 15 shots, they failed to find the net and will need to be more clinical in front of goal. Miyazaki lost 1-0 to Yokohama FC. Can they beat the side they overcame in the 100 YEAR VISION LEAGUE PLAY-OFF and claim a historic first J2 victory?
Imabari host Omiya after losing 2-1 to Iwaki in their opener. Can Takuhiro Nakai Pipi, who made his J.League debut as a starter, help his side claim all three points? Omiya beat Niigata 1-0 and, despite scoring only once, registered 21 shots in an impressive attacking display. They will look to maintain that aggressive approach this week.
Tokushima welcome Tosu after suffering a 2-0 defeat to Sapporo. Their vulnerability to counter-attacks will be one area they need to address. Tosu, meanwhile, made a strong start with a comfortable 2-0 victory over Kofu. New signing Toshiki Takahashi opened the scoring and will again be expected to make an impact.
