The MEIJI YASUDA J1 LEAGUE Matchweek 2 got underway on 14 August with Tokyo V facing Kashiwa.

Tokyo V took the lead at MUFG National Stadium just two minutes in through Naoki Hayashi, but Kashiwa responded in the 11th minute as Keita Endo scored his first goal since joining the club to level the match. Yusuke Segawa then put Kashiwa ahead in the 65th minute before Tojiro Kubo added a third in the 82nd minute to seal a 3-1 victory and make it two wins from two to start the season.
