Nine Matchweek 2 fixtures in the MEIJI YASUDA J1 LEAGUE were played on 15 August, with Machida, Hiroshima and Kashima all making it two wins from two to start the season.
Machida opened the scoring in the 18th minute away to Chiba through Yuta Nakayama's direct free-kick before Tete Yengi doubled their advantage in the 34th minute. Takuma Nishimura and Hotaka Nakamura added further goals in the second half to complete an emphatic 4-0 victory.
Hiroshima earned a 4-1 away victory over Urawa, with Akito Suzuki scoring a brace. Kashima, meanwhile, claimed another dramatic victory as Ikuma Sekigawa struck the winner in the 90+8th minute to seal a 2-1 win over Nagoya.
Yokohama FM broke the deadlock away to Shimizu in the 79th minute through Taisei Inoue, whose goal proved to be the winner in a 1-0 victory. Okayama also secured a 1-0 win, holding on to the lead given to them by Lucão's 54th-minute goal against Nagasaki.
Fukuoka cruised to a 3-0 home victory over Cerezo Osaka, with Kazuki Fujimoto among the scorers. Mito took the lead against Gamba Osaka through Yoshiki Torikai in the 18th minute but conceded an equaliser in the 74th minute as the match ended 1-1.
Kawasaki Frontale took the lead at home to Kyoto through Lazar Romanić just before half-time. After falling behind, Marcinho equalised in the 65th minute to earn a 2-2 draw. Kobe also rescued a point, with Yoshinori Muto scoring a dramatic equaliser in the 90+3rd minute to secure a 2-2 draw against FC Tokyo.
