Seven matches were played on the 22nd in Matchweek 3 of the MEIJI YASUDA J1 LEAGUE.
Kashima hosted Fukuoka and took the lead through an own goal in the 31st minute. After being pegged back, Leo Ceara restored their lead in the 60th minute before Cavric added a third four minutes later. Fukuoka pulled one back, but Kashima held on for a 3-2 victory to make it three wins from three to start the season.
Hiroshima took the lead through Mutsuki Kato in the 28th minute but conceded in the 58th minute as they drew 1-1 with Kawasaki Frontale. Yokohama FM took an early lead at home against Kobe through 16-year-old Shin Miidera in the ninth minute and held firm to claim a 1-0 victory.
Mito travelled to face Kyoto and took the lead through Takumi Mase in the 17th minute before Yasuki Kimoto added a second in the 31st minute. Chihiro Kato made it three in the 68th minute. Kyoto pulled one back in the 82nd minute, but Mito ran out comfortable 3-1 winners to record their first J1 win.
Cerezo Osaka defeated Shimizu 1-0 thanks to Thiago Andrade's 62nd-minute winner. Nagoya beat Gamba Osaka 3-1, with Yudai Kimura among the scorers, to record their first win of the season. Okayama and Tokyo Verdy, meanwhile, played out a goalless draw.
