Four Matchweek 4 fixtures in the MEIJI YASUDA J3 LEAGUE were played on 29 August.
Gifu hosted Tochigi SC and took the lead in the fourth minute through Shohei Ogushi. Hayato Kanda doubled their advantage in the 32nd minute before Jin Izumisawa added a third six minutes later. Tochigi SC pulled one back in the second half, but Ryo Toyama added a fourth late on to seal a comfortable 4-1 victory. Gifu remain unbeaten and stay top of the table.
Kagoshima came from behind to claim a thrilling 4-3 away victory over Sanuki. Trailing by a goal, Ryo Arita equalised in the 47th minute before Wataru Tanaka put the visitors ahead nine minutes later. Sanuki levelled in the 61st minute, but Tanaka restored Kagoshima’s lead just three minutes later. The hosts equalised again in the 74th minute before Riku Saga struck the winner in the sixth minute of stoppage time.
Fukushima fought back from two goals down, with Yuki Okada pulling one back in the 74th minute before Koya Okuda equalised two minutes later to earn a 2-2 draw. Ryukyu recorded their first win of the season with a 2-1 home victory over Sagamihara, thanks to goals from Toshikazu Teruuchi and Yu Tomidokoro.
