Gamba Osaka have announced that midfielder Gaku Nawata will join Belgian club Sporting de Charleroi on loan.
Nawata has been with Gamba Osaka since 2025 and has made three appearances in the MEIJI YASUDA J1 LEAGUE this season.
Nawata commented through the club:
“First of all, I’m grateful to everyone at the club for respecting my decision. When I received this offer, I felt that the chance I had been waiting for to challenge myself overseas had finally arrived. At the same time, I had just started getting opportunities to play for Gamba, so I also considered staying and continuing to play for the team. However, I didn’t want to let this opportunity pass me by, and I felt that going overseas and succeeding there could also benefit Gamba, so I decided to make this move. I also have the goal of playing at the World Cup, and I want to keep growing in every way, including improving my language skills, in order to achieve that.
“I believe the best way I can repay everyone who bought my shirt and all the fans and supporters who cheered me on is by succeeding. I’ll believe in the path I’ve chosen and give everything I have so that one day as many people as possible can see a former Gamba player at the World Cup.
