Machida Hit Three to Stay Unbeaten! Chiba Claim First Win Since J1 Return [Summary: MEIJI YASUDA J1 Matchweek 6]

Nine Matchweek 6 fixtures in the MEIJI YASUDA J1 LEAGUE were played on 6 September, with Machida remaining top of the table after beating Nagoya.

Machida broke the deadlock away to Nagoya through Ryo Shirasaki just before half-time. After Nagoya equalised, Takahiro Akimoto restored Machida's lead in the 75th minute before Yusuke Matsuo added a third late on to seal a 3-1 victory. Machida remain unbeaten this season and stay top of the table.

Kobe cruised to a 3-1 home victory over Nagasaki, with Yuta Goke scoring twice. The win was their third in a row and lifted them to second. Yokohama FM also claimed a comfortable away victory, beating Kashiwa 2-0 thanks to goals from Ryo Miyaichi and Rio Nitta.

Urawa took the lead through an own goal in the 20th minute and held on for a 1-0 victory over Kashima. Okayama, meanwhile, beat Hiroshima 3-2 at home as Kota Kawano scored a hat-trick. The defeat was Hiroshima's first of the season.

Chiba took the lead at home to Gamba Osaka in the opening minute through Ken Yamura before Takumi Tsukui doubled their advantage in the 52nd minute to seal a 2-0 victory. The win ended Chiba's five-match losing run and was their first since returning to J1.

Kawasaki Frontale took the lead against Shimizu at MUFG Stadium in the opening minute through Kyosuke Mochiyama before gaining a numerical advantage when Shimizu were reduced to 10 men. Shimizu equalised from the penalty spot in the 68th minute, but Marcinho restored Kawasaki's lead in the 77th before striking again late on to complete a 3-1 victory.

FC Tokyo beat Kyoto 2-0 thanks to goals from Marcelo Ryan and Motoki Nagakura, while Cerezo Osaka and Tokyo V played out a goalless draw.
