Mito Hollyhock have announced that midfielder Seigo Suetani of Kyoto Sangyo University will join the club for the 2026/27 season in January 2027.
Suetani is from Hyogo Prefecture and previously played in the Cerezo Osaka academy.
Following the announcement, Suetani commented:
“I’m delighted to be able to fulfil my childhood dream of becoming a professional footballer with this club. We faced Mito Hollyhock in the Emperor’s Cup this year, and that match left a lasting impression on me. When I was younger, the first professional match I ever watched in my hometown of Kobe was also against Mito Hollyhock. I still remember how strongly that experience made me want to become a professional footballer. Looking back, I feel I’ve had a connection with Mito for a long time.
“The club’s recruitment staff had been following me for some time, and I was given the opportunity to join training around June. I was struck by the passion of the staff and players and by the way the whole team trained together with such unity. Taking part in those sessions only strengthened my desire to develop and play here, so I’m very happy to be starting my professional career with this club. The journey to this point has not been easy, but I know I wouldn’t be where I am today without the many people who have supported me — my coaches, teammates, friends and, above all, my family, who have always been there for me. I’ll always be grateful for their support and will keep working hard every day, staying determined and humble.
“My strength is my dribbling. I want to excite people with my play, fight for Mito Hollyhock and help the team win. When we faced Mito in the Emperor’s Cup, I was struck by how passionate and welcoming the supporters were, and I’m really looking forward to playing alongside them. To everyone connected with Mito Hollyhock, thank you for your support. I look forward to being part of the club.”
