Avispa Fukuoka have announced that they have terminated the contract of manager Shinya Tsukahara.
Tsukahara took interim charge in February before being officially appointed manager in July. He recorded two wins, one draw and 10 defeats in the MEIJI YASUDA J1 LEAGUE this season.
Tsukahara commented through the club:
“I will be leaving my position as manager of Avispa Fukuoka. I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to all the fans and supporters, sponsors and everyone at AGA who have supported the club.
“As manager, it was my responsibility to lead the team to victory and achieve the goals set by the club, and I fully accept that I was unable to fulfil that responsibility. Whatever the circumstances, I worked alongside the players and staff every day, determined to do everything possible to help Avispa Fukuoka win. I am deeply frustrated that we were unable to deliver the results everyone expected, and I am truly sorry.
“I have nothing but gratitude for the players and staff who fought alongside me, and for the fans and supporters who never stopped believing in and supporting the team. I sincerely hope that Avispa Fukuoka will continue to be loved by the people of Fukuoka and grow even further, and that the players will enjoy success in the future. Thank you all for everything.”
Head coach Yusuke Murakami is expected to take interim charge for the MEIJI YASUDA J1 LEAGUE Matchweek 14 fixture against V-Varen Nagasaki on 7 November.
