Former FC Tokyo manager Massimo Ficcadenti has revealed his delight at taking up the reigns at Sagan Tosu, and is confident his new club can enjoy a great season.

In his second season in Japan, the Italian led Tokyo to their best-ever finish of fourth place in the 2015 MEIJI YASUDA J1 League.

However, mediocre results following the summer sale of Yoshinori Muto followed a strong start and the capital club had confirmed Ficcadenti in November that the trainer would be departing.

Nevertheless, it has now been revealed the 48-year-old will continue managing in Japan, with Sagan the next to benefit from the former Reggina and Cagliari boss’s expertise.

“I believe we can definitely achieve fantastic results in front of our great supporters,” Ficcadenti said via the club’s official website.

“Let’s pack our stadium and win! I can’t wait to start the new season with everyone. Forza Sagan!”
