FC Tokyo midfielder Takuji Yonemoto received surgery in Spain earlier this week to repair his torn anterior cruciate ligament, the club announced on Thursday.
The one-time Japan international has been out of action since injuring his right knee on July 23 in Tokyo’s 1-0 loss at Kawasaki Frontale.
Yonemoto is expected to require eight months to fully recover from the procedure.
