Yamagata Climb to Second with Back-to-Back Wins! Fujieda Edge Toyama 3-2 [Summary: MEIJI YASUDA J2 Matchweek 4]

Ten Matchweek 4 fixtures in the MEIJI YASUDA J2 LEAGUE were played on 29 August.
 
Omiya hosted Shonan aiming to make it four wins from four. After falling two goals behind in the first half, Carlinhos Junior pulled one back in the 74th minute before Suphanat Mueanta struck a dramatic equaliser in the 90+1st minute to earn Omiya a 2-2 draw.
 
Yamagata cruised to a 3-0 away victory over Imabari, with Junya Takahashi scoring twice. Back-to-back wins lift Yamagata to second, while Imabari have now lost all four of their opening matches. Fujieda, meanwhile, took the lead away to Toyama through Riyo Kawamoto in the 24th minute before Wigi Kanemoto doubled their advantage seven minutes later. Yusuke Kikui added a third in the 45+3rd minute, and although Toyama pulled two goals back, Fujieda held on for a 3-2 victory.
 
Niigata came from behind to claim a 3-2 away victory over Iwaki. Trailing 2-1, they equalised through Kanji Kuwayama in the 61st minute before Matheus Moraes put them ahead two minutes later. Iwata defeated Tochigi City 3-1, with Iago Teles scoring twice.
 
Hachinohe broke the deadlock against Akita in the 77th minute through Owie William and held on for a 1-0 victory. Sendai defeated Miyazaki 4-2, with Motohiko Nakajima scoring twice.
 
Tosu took the lead away to Yokohama FC in the 12th minute through Toshiki Takahashi, but Katsuya Iwatake equalised in the 45+2nd minute. Kaito Yoshino restored Tosu’s lead in the 77th minute before Takuya Shimamura struck three minutes from time to earn Yokohama FC a 2-2 draw.
 
Kofu defeated Sapporo 2-1 thanks to goals from Yamato Naito and Kazushi Fujii. Tokushima recorded their first win of the season as Yuya Takagi’s 62nd-minute goal proved to be the winner in a 1-0 home victory over Oita.
