Nagoya and Mito Suffer Shock Defeats; FC Tokyo Hit Six Against Nagano [Summary: EMPEROR'S CUP Round 2]

The second round of the Emperor's Cup was played on 26 August, with J1 sides Nagoya and Mito both suffering shock defeats.
Nagoya took the lead against Tottori through Haruya Fujii but conceded three goals in quick succession late on to suffer a 3-1 comeback defeat. Mito, meanwhile, were beaten 2-0 by Kyoto Sangyo University (Kyoto), as the university side pulled off a major upset.
The remaining J1 sides all progressed as expected. Tokyo Verdy cruised to a 4-1 win over Gunma, while Machida beat Iwate Grulla Morioka (Iwate) 3-0. Cerezo Osaka defeated Gifu 3-1, with Yota Komi scoring twice.
Hiroshima cruised to a 4-1 win over Okinawa SV (Okinawa), while Kashima beat Atletico Suzuka Club (Mie) 3-0. Urawa defeated Yamanashi Gakuin University (Yamanashi) 3-0, with Ado Onaiwu scoring twice, while Kashiwa edged Senshu University (Kanagawa) 2-1.
FC Tokyo ran out 6-0 winners over Nagano. Yuto Ozeki scored twice as Kawasaki Frontale beat Tochigi SC 3-1. Kosei Suwama's 35th-minute goal proved decisive as Yokohama F. Marinos edged Fukushima 1-0, while Shimizu beat FC Osaka 2-1 after extra time.
Kyoto edged FC Maruyasu Okazaki (Aichi) 1-0, while Gamba Osaka beat Shiga 2-0 thanks to a Takashi Usami brace. Ren Komatsu scored twice as Kobe defeated VEROSKRONOS TSUNO (Miyazaki) 2-1, while Okayama cruised to a 3-0 win over BELUGAROSSO IWAMI (Shimane).
Nagasaki edged Ehime 3-2 in a five-goal thriller. Chiba defeated Azul Claro Numazu (Shizuoka) in a penalty shoot-out, while Fukuoka also beat Verspah OITA (Oita) on penalties.
Among the J2 sides, Yokohama FC cruised to a 3-1 win over Criacao Shinjuku (Tokyo), while Tokushima beat FC Tokushima (Tokushima) 3-0. Michele Staccioli scored twice as Kofu won the J2 clash with Sapporo 3-1.
Tochigi City came from behind to beat Sendai 2-1. Fujieda defeated Yamagata 5-3 after extra time, while Iwaki beat Oita 2-0.
Omiya cruised to a 2-0 win over Hachinohe, while Shonan edged Rein Meer Aomori FC (Aomori) 1-0. Miyazaki beat Iwata 1-0 after extra time.
Imabari defeated Akita 4-1, while Tosu beat Toyama 4-0. Niigata suffered a heavy 4-0 defeat to Kagoshima, making them the only J2 side to lose to lower-category opposition.
